Facial Aesthetics

The Westin Hotel in Buckhead recently hosted the annual conference on facial aesthetics. For a week, surgeons shared the most modern techniques in surgery that can turn any well-aged individual into a reasonable facsimile of Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie. Atlanta Pro AV offered the audio visual support, including image magnification, which gave attendees a close-up seat to the live surgical demonstrations. Even the ones in the back-rows could see every incision.

Listening Party for EMI artist Katy Perry

I believe it was just about a week after her closed, highly guarded listening party at Whiskey Park (W Hotel Midtown) when Katy Perry's latest single hit #1 on the pop chart. Atlanta Pro AV was enlisted by EMI to make sure the sound was clear and thumping for her new record "Teenage Dream". The record was played in it's entirety for a welcoming crowd of VIPs of the music industry. Katy delighted in the sound and danced to many of her new tracks that are soon to become hits once the record comes out in August.

Many thanks to EMI and Katy Perry for having Atlanta Pro AV in the mix.

B2B with Daivd Ratciffe

President & CEO of Southern Company (Ga. Power, Alabama Power, etc.) David Ratcliffe had a the crowd rolling during his presentation for B2B Magazine at Maggiano's Buckhead this past Thursday. Southern Company is one of America's largest producers of electricity.

He commented on the absurdity of the idea of a trillion dollars- "nobody realizes what the easy monthly payment is on a trillion dollars". He took the time to thank us for the "great job". It's clear that nice guys can finish 1st.

Asian-American Heritage Foundation

The Asian American Heritage Foundation held their annual Gala at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Atlanta. There were several performances, including the traditional red lantern dance, and a violin and chorus ensemble. All the performers were children, and they deserved every bit of the applause they received for their talents. The elaborate costumes were gorgeous and remarkably detailed.

The night was filled with delights of Asian culture at every turn. Thanks to the AAHF for having us handle the video, sound, and lighting for their event.

Lupus Walk at Piedmont Park

It was a perfect day in the park for the Lupus Walk. We had the best time being a sponsor and advocating for such a great cause. There was a tremendous turnout and a great showing of support for a disease that has eluded and confused the medical profession since it's inception. There hasn't been a new drug for Lupus in 51 years and 55,000 Georgians are afflicted.

We were happy to donate the sound to help make all the voices heard that carried such an urgent message. Many thanks to V103 FM and DJ G-Mack for keeping everybody dancing and making the most of our sound system.

Chapter President Maria Myler deserves a great credit for organizing such a fantastic event that raised a great deal money for the Lupus Foundation.

Our friend John Levinson with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) was the one who recommended us to Maria. Thanks John!

Be sure to visit www.lupus.org and www.lfaga.org (Georgia Chapter) for ways in which you can contribute to finding the cure.

The Gamma Awards 2010

The Magazine Association of the Southeast had their 2010 conference and awards at The W Hotel Midtown. Congrats to Garden & Gun, the big winner of this year's Gamma AwardsStephanie Davis with Skirt Magazine, this year's president, did a wonderful job realizing the theme of a Media Circus. We helped by providing circus colors from our LED uplights. We also provided the ultra bright projectors for the all- glass Altitude Room, and other audio visual equipment and technical support for all the breakout sessions.

A special thanks to Desiree C. Scales from Bella Web Design for presenting. She imparted some incredibly useful knowledge on SEO and web site creation.

Instant Megachurch!

When the RCCG North American Conference suddenly lost its venue in Baltimore, and decided to move it to Atlanta, there was little time to react. With approximately 6,000 people in attendance, Georgia's World Congress Center was one of the only Convention Centers able to accommodate this large of an event. They called us on Monday and by Friday we were moving into the Thomas Murphy Ballroom with 3-trucks loaded with gear.

We provided backline for two bands, which included a Hammond B3, 2-Leslie Speakers, Fender Amplifiers, GK Bass Rig, DIGI 002, Korg Triton, Yamaha Motif, Roland Fantom X7, 7 Piece Drum set, and more.

The musical acts were incredibly good and incorporated talking drum, congas, saxophone, trumpet, a 60 person choir, and several other instruments. Good thing we had the Yamaha M7CL 56 input mixing console for the job. That along with the Vertec Line Array Sound System, our audio was well managed and loud and clear.

From the video angle we were mixing 4-HD cameras with jibs onto (2) 15'x20' screens rigged on either side of the ballroom with long throw projection from the balconies.

Our stage was set with white pipe and drape for splashing color from LEDs and MAC 2.5k moving lights. With also used custom designed light pillars to reinforce the regal theme of the event, "King of Kings".
